About ISHAS

The International Society for Hyaluronan Sciences is organized and shall at all times be operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes in order to conduct the following activities, but only to the extent consistent with the other provisions of the Certificate of Incorporation and with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986:

MISSION

• To advance knowledge on the structure, function and therapeutic application of hyaluronan and its role in the structure and function of the extracellular matrix and cells;
• to support scientific research on the hyaluronan molecule encompassing all 3 branches of medical sciences: basic, clinical and applied;

Founding Members

The founding members of the Society came together during the International Hyaluronan meeting (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) in October 2003, during a round table discussion. The Founders formally agreed to take part in the formation of the society, which was then officially incorporated by Dr. Endre Balazs and Dr. Vincent Hascall on October 4, 2004.
